Bricks
Social media and our electronic connections.
I remember how excited I was with the advent of the internet. The possibilities I saw for social connections, the way that sexual subcultures could form and communicate, the opportunities for bypassing corporate systems and societal restrictions, and all the vast promises of a new frontier. Thinking about the past and examining the present , I've been producing the bricks. Single words pressed into clay bricks. Two categories: those words relating to the times I've formed sexual connections with people, and those words relating to the times I've experienced alienation and disconnects.
I've found there are a lot of words, so I'm making bricks and they're adding up. I can't compete with social media, where individual, charged words fly from mobs in an ongoing blizzard, but, I'll try to keep up the brick production until I too can make some walls and pathways.
